Abstract

In today's digital age, the convergence of healthcare and technology has revolutionized medical imaging, facilitating rapid diagnosis and treatment. However, with this advancement comes the pressing need to safeguard sensitive medical data from evolving cyber threats. Motivated by the critical role of medical imaging in patient care and the growing sophistication of cyber-attacks targeting healthcare systems, this article embarks on a comprehensive exploration of cybersecurity in medical imaging. The research commences with the development of a bespoke encryption framework tailored explicitly for DICOM and other medical imaging formats. This framework is meticulously crafted to uphold the highest standards of security while ensuring seamless accessibility for authorized users. Building upon this foundation, the study meticulously evaluates existing cybersecurity measures within the medical imaging domain, pinpointing vulnerabilities ripe for exploitation. Drawing upon the latest encryption techniques, the research proposes robust improvements to bolster the resilience of medical imaging systems against malicious intrusions. Furthermore, this work advances the frontier of cybersecurity in medical imaging by introducing a novel protocol for real-time anomaly detection during image transmission and storage. A comparative survey on various emerging methods developed so far in this area has been explored.
