Development and Validation of a Local Wisdom-based E-module for Folklore Learning Through Discovery Learning

Abstract
The integration of local cultural heritage into digital learning environments remains a significant challenge in contemporary language education, particularly in fostering cultural literacy among digitally oriented learners. This study aimed to develop and validate a local wisdom-based flipbook e-module for folklore learning using a Discovery Learning approach. The study employed a research and development design based on the Dick and Carey instructional design model. The developed e-module was evaluated through expert validation involving media, content, and language experts, followed by a limited field trial with 24 tenth-grade students. Data were collected using validation sheets and student response questionnaires and analyzed descriptively using percentage scores, validity testing, and reliability analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics Version 29. The results revealed a high level of theoretical validity, with average scores of 82% for media aspects, 87% for content aspects, and 87% for language aspects, yielding an overall validity score of 85.17%, which indicates a very valid product. Student responses demonstrated high practicality, with positive response rates ranging from 70.8% to 100%, particularly in material comprehension (100%) and clarity of instructions (95.8%). Reliability testing showed good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.884). These findings indicate that the integration of Discovery Learning principles, interactive multimedia features, and Banten local wisdom produces a theoretically valid and practically well-received learning resource; because the trial was limited to a small sample within a single provincial context, the results should be interpreted as evidence of feasibility and practicality rather than of instructional effectiveness. The developed e-module nonetheless offers a promising approach to enhancing student engagement, cultural literacy, and appreciation of local heritage within digital learning environments.
