Abstract
SiBaAI is AI-based reading application which is designed to support students’ academic needs. This app provides materials that are relevant to scientific writing, such as writing structure, language rules, and idea development techniques. This app facilitates users to understand references more effectively and efficiently by integrating AI technology. Furthermore, SiBaAI facilitates students in organizing ideas and improving their quality of argumentation in scientific writing. This application was AI-based tool designed to support the verbal-linguistic intelligence of disabled students in scientific writing. Utilizing mixed methods sequential explanatory design, quantitative data was collected from 105 lecturers using Likert-scale questionnaire. The qualitative data was obtained from in-depth interview. The analysis was focused on four aspects, namely application usefulness and relevance, application usability, the effectiveness of application in supporting scientific writing, and application compliance with inclusive education. Quantitative results showed high perceptions across all dimensions. This indicated positive evaluation which was homogeneous and stable. Qualitative findings revealed that lecturers perceived SiBaAI app as cognitive scaffolding which was effective in structuring, explaining concepts, and overcoming linguistic barriers. Data integration demonstrated that SiBaAI app connected pedagogical and technological aspects of inclusive education. It utilized AI (Artificial Intelligence) as collaborative learning tools. This study contributed to the use of AI in inclusive higher education by highlighting the lecturers’ perspectives and providing empirical evidences to design AI-based application which empowered disabled students in scientific writing.
